This active and healthy lifestyle initiative celebrates racial, gender and economic diversity by introducing children to new sporting opportunities at Utah’s Olympic venues. 2,000+ children participated, free of cost, in 2020.

In 2018, UOLF launched a Healthy Kearns initiative aimed at combatting some of the states most alarming health statistics (many of which are preventable). Now offered at all three Olympic venues, this active and healthy lifestyle initiative celebrates racial, gender and economic diversity by introducing children to new sporting opportunities. With most children “retiring” from organized sport by age 13, a fraction participating in the CDC’s daily physical activity recommendation and costs being the largest barrier to sport, UOLF works with local schools, physical education classes, after school and summer school to provide transportation, equipment, field time and instruction to the youth in our communities. These sport-centered camps, classes and development programs now include Learn to Sport in many disciplines: cross-country skiing, skating, biathlon, multi-sport (basketball, track and field, volleyball and more) and our G-Force skeleton program. By focusing on free/reduced lunch and at-risk programs, we are ensuring those who need this most in our Olympic venue communities will have the opportunity.
