Element Event Center

Bringing Community Together

The Element Event Center, set to open in December 2018, is a unique, shared vision come to fruition. With the planning and execution of several organizations – including the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation, Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center, US Speedskating, Salt Lake County, and the State of Utah – the $12M multi-use Element Event Center is a model of cooperation and innovation between government, non-profit and community partners that individual stakeholders couldn’t have achieved independently.

Olympic Enhancement

This project is a permanent reminder and embodiment of a true Olympic Legacy effort to bridge the success of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games to future Olympic endeavors. The two-story, 40-foot tall connection between the Utah Olympic Oval and Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center is 36,700 total sq. ft. Of that space, 11,600 sq. ft. will secure US Speedskating’s permanent home in Kearns. US Speedskating will gain a Hall of Fame, state-of-the-art training facilities, nutrition areas, a testing & evaluation lab and access to a new high-performance sports medicine clinic. US Speedskating has produced more Olympic medals – 88 and counting – than any other Team USA sport. The Element Event Center will ensure current and future generations of athletes and Olympians will live and train in Utah with cutting edge assets at their disposal before competing and winning medals on the world stage.

Community Enhancement

Creating both a recreational hub as well as a community gathering place, the Element Event Center will further initiatives to make Kearns a more collaborative and healthier place. KOPFC will triple its size of current fitness space with 11,500 sq. ft. to be utilized for aerobic exercise equipment and fitness classes. Additionally, the facility will free up existing space in KOPFC to accommodate continued growth. With 10,500 sq. ft. of community space, the Element Event Center will host groups like Kearns Community Council, Kearns Metro Township and more to hold meetings. The facility – featuring multipurpose space, an outdoor event deck with mountain views and an outdoor community plaza – will also be a destination for weddings, public gatherings, community festivals, corporate meetings and more.
