Mountain Conditions

UPDATE 3/6/25

Sunnyside and Bear Hollow Ridge has got a lot of sun the last few weeks but with the new snow it is prime skiing. Bear Hollow has stayed covered and is a great option for some softer snow. Upper Mountain Bypass is always the best option for machine groomed access and skiing. Lion’s Den is our skier choice for this week.

Forecast:

The forecast for the Utah Olympic Park looks great for the second half of next week, with potential to see 10 plus inches by the end of the week. Our grooming team will be out on the Upper Mountain Bypass trail, which is scheduled to be machine groomed on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday Nights (weather dependent). Look for fresh corduroy the morning after! Please always be aware of the Mountain Operations and stay very clear of any machine operations and beware of all winch cat operations.

Training and Events on West Peak:

We have passed our alpine ski racing competition season. We will still be very busy with race teams training on Olympic Hopeful and Freestyle athletes training on Axios. You will be able to see our local clubs, Park City Ski and Snowboard and Rowmark Academy, Training on Olympic Hopeful and Axios.

We are excited to host the Freestyle Junior National Championship for Moguls and Aerials from March 18th to 23rd. We will have to close the South Side that week for this event. It is our second year hosting this great event and we are anticipating over 250 athletes from around the country.

UPDATE 2/20/25 : NEW TERRAIN ALERT

Southside routes are now open, the Bear Hollow Ridge is in the best condition for both uphill and downhill travel. The Bear Hollow gully is still thin in the trees with lots of saplings still showing in the open areas that can make it extra challenging. We recommend the Bear Hollow Ridge for those looking for expert terrain and more of a backcountry experience.

Reminder: Northside routes – Lower Mountain Bypass and Lion’s Den will be closed for our race series today, February 20 through February 23.  Both Lower Mountain Bypass and Lion’s Den will reopen on Monday, February 24.

UPDATE 2/13/25: NORTH SIDE UPHILL ROUTE

The North side uphill will re-open on February 15. We will provide an update on the South side access after the conclusion of this current storm.

UPDATE 2/5/25: NORTH SIDE UPHILL ROUTE CLOSURE – FEBRUARY 6-14, 2025

The North side uphill route will be closed February 6-14 for the University FIS GS/SG Series.

We have been challenged by the rain in opening the South side access but will post any updates here if conditions change.

UPDATE 2/3/25: CURRENT CONDITIONS

The rain this weekend did not help the current condition of our North side uphill route. Please be aware that there is quite a bit of new exposed dirt and rocks on the North side uphill route.

UPDATE 1/27/25: EXTENDED TERRAIN ALERT

We have extended the North side route. We have added 270 vertical feet and 1000 feet of skiable distance. Conditions have improved with the recent snow. We do have some upcoming races that will force some closures of our North side route February 6-14 and February 20-23, 2025. Please be sure to check the trail map signs for closures.

We expect to open the South side access by early February. We will post as soon as we have an open date so stay tuned!

PCSS invites all of our Uphill Passholders to the Park City Town Series. See details below.

UPDATE 1/6/25: NORTH SIDE ROUTE IS OPEN!

UPDATE 1/4/25: We are excited to announce that we will be open for uphill travel on Monday, January 6, 2024 for our season passholders!

Coverage is still limited so we will be opening the North side route and ask that passholders note all signage and markers. We will have temporary signage as shown in the image below at the turnaround point. Please stay on the designated trail when skiing down — the wooded areas still need additional snowfall. All South side routes will remain closed until we get more snow coverage.

Access to the North side route is from the overflow parking lot by the snowmaking pond. Follow ‘UPHILL TRAVEL’ markers towards the Game Changer chairlift. Follow the pathway around the backside of the lift and up the North side (Lookers Right) of the ski run.  After you pass the chairlift, please stay behind the fence line on the travel road and off the main ski run. You will be climbing the Lower Mountain Bypass trail.

Our uphill hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

As a reminder, all Season Passholders must be wearing their armband. You can collect your armband from our Guest Services desk located at the Quinney Welcome Center at the Utah Olympic Park. The Guest Services hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

UPDATE 12/29/24: The Uphill Trails at the Utah Olympic Park will not be able to open on January 1, 2025.  Even with the new snow from this past storm cycle, we don’t have adequate coverage to safely open the trails just yet. We will be checking conditions daily and will email passholders with updates and anticipated opening dates. You can also check back on this page for all updates.

Below are photos of our current conditions.
