LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM INFORMATION

Here are a couple of helpful tips and information to help you navigate through your first class:
  • Arrive 30 minutes before the start of your class time.
  • Let the front desk know you are here for learn to skate.
  • Get your name tag off the learn to skate check in table. (Name tags help us keep track of skaters and is your ticket to getting skates)
    1. If you do not have a name tag, please let Tammy at the front desk know and we will help you get one (we may need to check for a payment).
    2. Your name tag is your pass to get skates down at the skate rental window.
    3. Don’t forget to check your name tag for printed reminders.
  • Go down the stairs to get your skates.
    1. Skate rental will need to see your name tag to get you skates.
    2. Our skate guard in skate rental will than need your shoes and shoe size.
  • Once you have your skates, find a seat down in the tunnel to get your skates on.
  • Once skates and helmets are on, find the number sign that matches the color of your name tag.
    1. Signs may be found downstairs in the tunnel
    2. Your coach will come find you there
  • Parents: if you have any questions or comments for the coaches, please speak with them before class starts or after the class ends.
    1. If your skater needs to be evaluated, please email cgutierrez@uolf.org and let the coach know before class (this helps us a lot to know which skaters need to be evaluated on the first day).
  • After class, please make sure your coach collects your name tag so we can have it ready for you next class.

SKATE FITTING
  • Pull the skate laces out of the boot.
  • Put your foot inside.
  • Start by crossing the laces and pulling them up through the hooks on the side of the boot.
  • Continue this process while making sure the skate is pulled nice and snug all the way to the top.
  • Finish off by tying a bow at the top.
  • If at any point if you need assistance, please ask a coach (in blue jackets) or an assistant coach (in gray jackets)
