SOLDIER HOLLOW EVENT GROUNDS

OVERVIEW

Since the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Soldier Hollow (SOHO) has hosted thousands of groups and events ranging from major international sporting events and corporate retreats to youth summer camps and music festivals.

It is primarily known as a Winter Olympics venue and has been developed to be an active, year-round recreation facility.  The venue has excellent infrastructure, land, and water features and can easily host groups in excess of 10,000 people, with little to no scaling.

GENERAL FACTS

  • The venue contains 500 acres of actively-used land, with more than 100 acres of area maintaining a 0%-3% elevation grade.
  • There are 2.5 miles of paved roads and 31 miles of unpaved hiking, ATV and biking trails.
  • The South and West sides of Soldier Hollow border Wasatch Mountain State Park, which is 21,500 acres of accessible state-owned land.
  • To the East of SOHO sits Deer Creek Reservoir, a useable body of water 4.633 mi² in size.
  • Recreational activities on and around the reservoir include boating, fishing, camping, swimming and water skiing.
  • Access:  All roads leading to the venue are paved and accustomed to handling heavy event traffic while maintaining the feeling of winding through a remote mountain valley.
  • Utilities:  Utility services on-site are comprehensive, including water, sewer, and enough 3-phase power to host Olympic-scale events.  Cellular service is good and high-speed internet is available.
  • Elevation:  Soldier Hollow sits at an elevation of 5,400 ft
  • Climate:  Soldier Hollow maintains a mild climate, with average temperatures topping out at 90° in July.  The climate has two great benefits:
    • (1) Arid soil that is easy to clean, leaving little residue on tires, tents and other equipmentand
    • (2) Virtually no bugs.
